I have had this mad crush on podcasts for, like, well, ever. But this post isn’t about that. We will get on the binge worthy podcasts some day soon. But for today, I am talking about women authors who just give me all of the feels. The one’s who feverously yearn to teach, encourage and boast from the roof tops how to love, be loved, be creative and thrive in your own life.
Brene Brown was a guest on Elizabeth Gilbert’s podcast and I instantly fell in love. She is so wise and kind and her heart beats with eagerness to have all create their own success, whatever that means to you. She preaches vulnerability, empathy and how to understand humanity. Brene has a TED talk that was just what I needed to hear and just what I think everyone needs to hear. https://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_on_vulnerability She is an American scholar, author, and public speaker, who is currently a research professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. I am just learning about her, so I can not wait until I can tell you all more of what I learn. I will say, in the short 15 minutes that I heard her speak, I must learn more from her. Elizabeth Gilbert. Also, Liz on her very own podcast, Magic Lessons, has been my (and I am sure many others) favorite author. She is, in my life, known for her best selling book “Eat, Pray Love” and now her amazing book “Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear”. I have not had the opportunity to read this book in it’s entirety however, the podcast is just as well. Elizabeth Gilbert is a teacher to everyone who has fear standing in their way and provides excuses rather than solutions to the things they know they want to accomplish in their life. This TED talk https://www.ted.com/talks/elizabeth_gilbert_on_genius points out that everyone has a genius, it is not the notion of “being” a genius but finding YOUR genius. Glennon Doyle Melton has written a few books and is an activist and philanthropist who frequently speaks about her past of a bulimic and addictions. Her TED talk, in fact, speaks about Lessons From The Mental Hospital and is an open book to what we can all learn. These are a few women who inspire me to be who I am and learn more about what I want to become. I hope you all find love and learning within them.
