Spring invites new beginnings for plants, lawns and trees. Thus, it is martyred as a new beginning for each of us, a new learning experience and lessons to be had.
What I Did!
As spring fast approaches, and as it harbors new beginnings, I look forward to more learning. What did you learn about yourself this month?

My yearly goals have been on my mind and accomplishing them is something that I really want to focus on for me. With that being said, I noticed that I am pretty lax with them right now and since we are officially starting the second quarter of the year already, it is a good time to play catch up. After all, we only have 9 months left of the year!
My Goals For April Are:
Four simple goals are all that I am going to put pressure on myself to do this month. If I complete more, then great, but these four are my minimum! What are your goals for the month I think every year I gear myself up for writing this post that is going to be super casual about my daughter’s birthday. In reality, I become a sobbing mess because I just can’t believe that she is one more year older and one more year wiser. Daniella Turns ELEVEN today and the fact that I have been a mother for 11 years and 9 months is just a whirl-wind of emotions. Daniella has learned so much and has spread so much joy through these years. Below are some photo highlights from her past year. Daniella, You are becoming such a wonderful, thoughtful, caring young woman. You are so very treasured by everyone around you. You have done so many new things and challenged yourself to be better with each passing day. Thank you for giving me grace as sometimes, I haven’t got it all figured out. Thank you for being you. Your entire family, close and extended, love you so very much.
I have had this mad crush on podcasts for, like, well, ever. But this post isn’t about that. We will get on the binge worthy podcasts some day soon. But for today, I am talking about women authors who just give me all of the feels. The one’s who feverously yearn to teach, encourage and boast from the roof tops how to love, be loved, be creative and thrive in your own life.
Brene Brown was a guest on Elizabeth Gilbert’s podcast and I instantly fell in love. She is so wise and kind and her heart beats with eagerness to have all create their own success, whatever that means to you. She preaches vulnerability, empathy and how to understand humanity. Brene has a TED talk that was just what I needed to hear and just what I think everyone needs to hear. https://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_on_vulnerability She is an American scholar, author, and public speaker, who is currently a research professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. I am just learning about her, so I can not wait until I can tell you all more of what I learn. I will say, in the short 15 minutes that I heard her speak, I must learn more from her. Elizabeth Gilbert. Also, Liz on her very own podcast, Magic Lessons, has been my (and I am sure many others) favorite author. She is, in my life, known for her best selling book “Eat, Pray Love” and now her amazing book “Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear”. I have not had the opportunity to read this book in it’s entirety however, the podcast is just as well. Elizabeth Gilbert is a teacher to everyone who has fear standing in their way and provides excuses rather than solutions to the things they know they want to accomplish in their life. This TED talk https://www.ted.com/talks/elizabeth_gilbert_on_genius points out that everyone has a genius, it is not the notion of “being” a genius but finding YOUR genius. Glennon Doyle Melton has written a few books and is an activist and philanthropist who frequently speaks about her past of a bulimic and addictions. Her TED talk, in fact, speaks about Lessons From The Mental Hospital and is an open book to what we can all learn. These are a few women who inspire me to be who I am and learn more about what I want to become. I hope you all find love and learning within them. This week felt really long and yet it was really busy. It almost felt like I couldn’t breathe both at work and at home. Sometimes, during the week, my life is so busy; I can’t seem to find peace in my mind. This weekend is going to be equally as busy. Go figure, right? Ha!
Today, I am grabbing lunch with my Oma and then heading to Daniella’s school to video the children about their special person for a project I am doing. Then this evening, I am testing my mom’s maxes with her at the gym. Oh, and we (Daniella and I) have her science project to complete. Saturday, Daniella has basketball at 9am. Before that, we have to drop off her science fair project and art work to the high school. After basketball, we will head back to the science and art fair to pick up her work and watch a few events. It is also her little sister’s birthday, so we may swing into there to say hello to her! I would love to take a little part of Saturday to purge a closet that is long awaiting it. I will also need to put together the video on Saturday because Sunday is…you guessed it…going to be a crazy day! Sunday is worship service, and then I am setting up tables for Special Person’s Day and going grocery shopping with a fellow PTO mom to prepare for Monday. If the video isn’t done, I will complete it then and round up my blog posts for next week. I am well organized in my planner and I have a plan of attack, so luckily I think the weekend will flow much smoother than it looks on paper. I was saying to my friend the other day, I am not sure how people with multiple children figure out where they need to be at what times and who is driving them. She responded with : we don’t, we wing it. Makes total sense. |
