With commuting back and forth an hour for my job most recently, I have gathered quite a few audible books that I have listened to. It has been a while since I have talked about them, so let’s dig in!
Before I get into what my favorites have been, I just want to note that if you are not plugged in to goodreads.com, it is a wonderful site where you can keep track of what you have read, put books on a “to read” list and make a yearly challenge for yourself. You can also make friends and see what they are reading, get recommendations on books to read and read the reviews from people who have already read it! Nope, not sponsored, I just have gotten super tuned into it and I love it!
This first book is going to be a no-brainer and I bet all of you will know what it is …. You’re right,“Girl, Wash Your Face” by Rachel Hollis. To say that I am in love with everything she is doing for women and girls through this #madeformore movement would be an understatement. Some folks have turned their nose up to the book and I just simply believe it gets really personal and super raw and some people don’t like that. And that’s ok. Me, on the other hand, I love it. This is a book every woman deserves to read. This is also a book that every man should service their woman with and read.
My next author who I have also become obsessed with her work is Karin Slaughter. My friends, she puts you on the edge of your seat with one hand on the floor to keep you from toppling over. The fact that “Pretty Girls” was nothing how I thought it would turn out still boggles my mind. Listening to it on audible was also super intense. “The Good Daughter” in Karin’s writings is also phenomenal. If you are looking for a good mystery, she is where it’s at.
"Uninvited" by Lysa Turkeurst was a powerful book for me to read in the time where I was also struggling with myself and my marriage. Feeling isolated and not feeling like I truly belong anywhere, this book helped to remind me that a) not one person doesn’t feel this way and b) there are ways that I can feel more inclusion and benefit from taking steps to complete that process for myself. Worth the read if you are struggling with the similar things.
All the heavy reading had me feeling like I need to read something fun and light hearted about someone else’s life so I listened to “The Magnolia Story” By Joanna and Chip Gaines. The cutest thing about the audible version is that it is read by both of them! That was a nice treat and hearing them tell their story on how they arrived was so fun, light hearted, and I could really feel the love they have for each other, much more so, I think, if I had read it on my own.
I have many more but I would be here for the next week. I would encourage you to go to my goodreads to learn more about what I’ve been reading. You can find me here. While you’re there, add me as a friend! #notsponsored
